WASHINGTON, AP - Attorney General Merrick Garland is testifying before the House Judiciary Committee today as part of its annual oversight hearing. Garland's testimony comes amid Republican attacks on the Justice Department's investigation of Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden.

In his opening statement, Garland rebuked Republicans for what he described as unprecedented attacks. "The Department of Justice has a long-standing tradition of independence," Garland said. "We do not take our direction from politicians. We follow the facts and the law, and we will continue to do so."
